Free Movement Workshop
‘Gestures transmit ephemeral knowledge’ – José E Muñoz
An invitation for all two steppers, professional dancers, slow walkers, hand talkers and voguers.
Taking inspiration from the daily, mundane and gestural catalogue of movements that we have collected moving through life, we will begin to build and explore choreography through improvisations and offerings.
All you need is comfortable clothes to move in, maybe a notepad and some water.
Everyone is welcome to join.
This free workshop is facilitated by Claudia Cumberbatch, who is a movement artist and filmmaker. Their work is
rooted in investigating intergenerational and cross continental lineage and family history. Inspired by what the stories the body holds, they use dance and film as a medium to excavate the messages said and unsaid. Outside of their artistic practice they work as a yoga teacher for older people and the queer community.
