Brave Bold Drama

Gill Simmons & Paul Lawless

Brave Bold Drama, Gill Simmons and Paul Lawless, are an award-winning community interest company. They make theatre for families and for people living with dementia and design and deliver participatory community art projects which are varying blends of live performance, audio, music, creative writing and arts an crafts for children, young people, families and older people. They focus their community art projects in south Bristol, and tailor them specifically to be accessible to people experiencing any form of intersectional disadvantage who live in Hartcliffe & Withywood and neighbouring wards. Brave Bold Drama works to dismantle the barriers that can prevent some members of the community from engaging with the arts and accessing opportunities to explore their own creativity.

Public Programme

Brave Bold Drama would devise and rehearse theatre shows in the space (“The Midnight Mission”, touring Oct-Nov 2022, and “The Keepers”, their new show for Jan-March 2023 ) This would include prop/set/costume making, sound design and film-making. They would offer family art workshops in the school holidays and on weekends as the Company of International Artists (https://bravebolddrama.co.uk/theatre/cia-installation.html) and possibly also bring out our science/theatre installation “The Discovery Lab” (https://bravebolddrama.co.uk/theatre/the-discovery-lab.html) which encourages children to explore everyday science by meeting aliens who are visiting earth on a discovery mission.
