SU13A, Priory Meadow, Hastings TN34 1PH

Open: Thursday, 10am – 12:30pm or by appointmentHypha Studios have teamed up with Hastings Art Foundation at Priory Meadow! The current cohort of 75 students on the Hastings Art Foundation are aged between 18 and 35 and beginning to get their teeth stuck into their future creative practices. Our students work across a number of disciplines including painting, animation, illustration, film, ceramics, fashion, design, architecture, photography and sculpture. The Foundation course is a bridge between secondary education (A Level/ Level 3) and further training (University / apprenticeships / employment) and as such is an unique opportunity to take risks and try out different ways of working. Throughout the year we work towards two major public outcomes, a work-in-progress show and a final diploma show.Public Programme

An amazing opportunity to work outside the college walls, giving students a chance to upscale and expand their working practice whilst engaging with a public audience. For many this will be the first chance these artists and designers will have had to show their work publicly outside an educational context. The fact that this Hypha Project Space is located in the center of Hastings and a stones throw from the college will enable them to engage with the local community.

We intend to use the ground level shop front as a project space for students to take risks and test out ways of working. By frosting up the glass windows to create more privacy for the students to work in the space we then intend to use the large bay windows as changing displays showcasing work being created by the student group to passerbys.

Work in Progress exhibition (Feb 2024) alongside other public facing events as organised by the students themselves. We may host our weekly Film Club in the space and make this publicly accessibly. There is also the potential for other courses in the College to host public outcomes including Games Art, Level 3 Art and Design and the BA curating module.
