I like a canvas to breathe and be alive. Be alive is the point. And, as the limitations are something called pigment and canvas, let’s see if I can do it.” – Lee Krasner

The exhibition showcases creative artwork from 17 female artists dominating today’s contemporary art scene in London. Unveiling Abstractions is curated by long-time collaborators, Zoë Goetzmann (Curator) and Melissa Vipritskaya Topal (Artist and Curator) who are both champions of women artists and women in the art world. This immersive exhibition offers a kaleidoscopic journey through the bold, colourful world of contemporary abstraction. The aim of this show focuses on the intricacies behind the artists’ techniques and creative processes – looking at the dialogues between artists, artworks and their practices. The exhibition showcases the limitless potential of these women, their talents via their mediums.

The show consists of paintings, sculptures, virtual installations, physical and site-specific installations created by female artists from different backgrounds, countries who are now all based in London. Their works draw on traditional, contemporary, digital, poetic and even biological and scientific mediums. Such pieces build on the legacies of abstract and even abstract expressionist women – who used their artwork as a way to reflect on the past in order to convey and to illustrate a new, positive future better representative of their current realities (i.e. perhaps a more equal, non-conformist, sustainable world)? To further engage the Euston community, Unveiling Abstractions will host artist talks, performances as well as artist-led workshops to further introduce the show’s artists, artworks and curators to the public throughout the show’s exhibiting dates.
