Medway Collective is a Medway-rooted interdisciplinary collective of artists, musicians, designers, filmmakers and researchers. Their work spans sculpture, sound, illustration, weaving, immersive installation, and socially engaged projects. United by a deep connection to place and community, they explore the intersections of art, science, nature, and heritage through experimental and collaborative methods. From public artworks and spatial audio to stained glass archives and festival builds, their diverse practices generate innovative cultural experiences. They champion neurodiversity, sustainability and inclusivity, drawing on Medway’s creative energy to craft bold, connective narratives that resonate locally and beyond.
Use of space
Creative Practice & Production: Members use the space for sound experimentation, music composition, textile work, making, rehearsals, and research. The flexibility of the space has enabled cross-disciplinary working and the development of new approaches that benefit from shared resources and proximity.
Collaboration & Skill Sharing: The shared environment has cultivated a strong creative community. Artists regularly collaborate across disciplines, share skills informally, and support one another’s practice. This has led to the development of joint projects and strengthened networks within the collective.
Events & Public Engagement: They regularly host open events such as music jams and poetry nights. These events provide a welcoming, non-intimidating stage space for emerging and established artists to share work, experiment, and connect with new audiences. They are playing a key role in strengthening the wider Medway creative ecosystem by offering accessible entry points for participation.
Project Development & Local Impact: Access to the space is supporting early-stage project development and sustained creative activity. Overall, the space functions as a vital hub that nurtures collaboration, experimentation, and community-driven cultural activity within Medway.
