‘Invasive Species’ is a multidisciplinary platform that invites audiences to explore the dissonance between our inner and outer worlds. Through a series of interventions, experiences, and sensations, the project taps into the imperceptible forces that shape our subconscious.
Envisioned as a highbrow & high-touch experience-as-exhibition, ‘invasive species’ plays into the sensory, viscerally disassociating us from our perception of reality. Over a century since the birth of Surrealism, its ideas feel more urgent than ever — an exploration of the same, if not more amplified, madnesses and anxieties that permeate the mind, body, and spirit. Informed by an interest in contemporary approaches to the movement and its many influences, the concept revisits the its historical and cultural impact through a psycho-sensory lens. Investigating the modern experience of existentialism, desire, dream states, pain, pleasure, and anxiety, ‘Invasive Species’ invites audiences to explore the self through a series of sensory moments that tap into the visceral as a portal into the psychological.
