At ARCADE, all of the art is playable. ARCADE is a new exhibition of interactive artworks and experimental films from eleven artists working across the UK and Europe. Curated by SE London duo COVEN LDN (Producer Natalie Hall and Sculptor Tom Witherick), this exhibition takes a laser-focus on audience playfulness – working to actively create a new space in fine art balancing high quality work with a looser, friendlier approach focusing on play.
Delving into themes of science fiction, speculative futurism, role-playing, and fantasy, ARCADE puts audiences at the core, with unnatural video games, sculptural simulations, expansive browser-based open worlds, and surrealist table-top roleplaying games.
Alongside the exhibition Coven will be hosting a number of exciting events including – A screening of films by contemporary Iranian artists organised by Parham Ghalamdar focused on a strand of Iranian moving image practice shaped by life after 1979 and by the screen as a daily environment. A free creative networking evening and professional skills and development masterclass hosted by Natalie Hall. As well as a number of creative workshops organised by their amazing artists centred around themes and processes found in their own practices.
