‘Cold Call’ is an exhibition exploring memory, archive, and the creative act of reinterpretation. Featuring artists who work with archival material, the show presents images and objects recreated through casting, sampling, drawing, and other inventive processes. Taking inspiration from Dennis Potter’s 1996 series Cold Lazarus, the exhibition investigates how we look back at the past, what we choose to remember, and how forgetting opens space for new stories to emerge.

The exhibition design evokes an abstracted living room, combining freestanding, furniture-like objects with “family photos” in the form of drawings, paintings, photography, and collage displayed on the walls. Works by Lauren Conway and Melanie Woodward—unframed on paper or cardboard—are likely to be suspended with fishing wire, both dividing the space and guiding the visitor’s journey through the exhibition.

Complementing the visual work, a sound piece developed with sound artist and performer Willow Swan will provide narrative context, enriching the immersive environment and connecting visitors with the themes of memory, transformation, and reinterpretation.

The exhibition is being developed for either Gallery 1 or Gallery 3, with the more compact scale of Gallery 3 offering a focused and intimate display that enhances the reflective and domestic qualities of the space.
