Heath Brown

about

Heath Brown is a fine art photographer and digital media/sound artist whose work explores the idea of the sublime in landscape and environment. Taking the ordinary in East Anglia and transforming it into powerful and thought provoking imagery. Heath’s images are influenced by the immediate environment and the surrounding elements with wind, weather and time dictating the final outcome. Still imagery is recreated to provide a feel of the place rather than a direct record, whether this be in projected film over relevant backdrops, digital photography printed on watercolour paper and homemade mediums, or large statement pieces in mixed media. He has exhibited in Cambridge (via Art Spaces and the University), Yorkshire (via the Zillah Bell Gallery) and London (Truman Brewery; Menier Gallery & Photomasters) and a month’s residency attached to Cambridge School of Art. MA in Photography

Public Programme

Whilst showing previous work based in locations around East Anglia Heath would seek to  replace these with new pieces created specifically for the space, influenced by the surrounding area and county. Heath will conduct interviews or work with Suffolk folk in relation to their love of the landscape of the area and try and convey their ideas via quotes or relevant imagery made by them (in workshops). All age groups and backgrounds are welcome. Heath would also produce new related work of my own including a sound and vision installation.

There will be a public viewing at the end of the residency to show all the work made and include quotes and work made from local people who may attend the workshops. These workshops would be on Photography and the Art of Seeing with talks in the space and taking groups to local locations to use simple smartphone cameras to create imagery that conveys the sense of place and emotions felt while pushing the boundaries of photography.
