Jade Annalise Gaskin

Open: 21 November – 20 December 2025
The witch, The mermaid, The siren. Throughout time, the patriarchy has supplied us with monsters and myths that warn us that women are horrific. Whether it is Creed’s examination of how the female reproductive body is the prototype of the monstrous, or Cixous, who examines how the fearful imagery of Medusa was directly determined by the male gaze, it is clear that men have used monstrous constructions to control women.
The exhibition explores the ‘monstrous’ aspects of femininity, dismantling these myths and beliefs by having the courage to “look at the Medusa straight on.”
The group brings together a diverse collective of artistic practices, from painting, sculpture, performance, multimedia, and photography. Jade, a painter, has exhibited at ‘The Bomb Factory Art Foundation’s I Would Rather Be Horizontal’. Gracie Schylling explores multimedia, while Abbie Coombs, a performance artist, was a finalist for the International Arte Laguna Prize in Venice. Sculptor Adriana Wynne received the 2023 Gilbert Bayes Award, and Kate Courtney-Taylor exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Show. Zijing, won Best Stage Design for An Ideal Husband. Ana Teles, was awarded the Mead Scholarship, and Iva Suhadolnik Gregorin works across performance and photography.
Public Programming
The group will hold workshops featuring a printmaking workshop and a writing workshop. While these workshops would be free to the public, they will also present a performance schedule. The printmaking workshop will be led by an artist specialising in monoprinting, while the writing workshop will be hosted by two artists who founded a writers’ collective, offering similar workshops across London. There will be an exhibition opening where the local community can attend as well as invited guests of friends, family and artists.
