Molly Stredwick – Hypha Studios x HAF
Molly is a painter, working primarily in acrylic on wood and canvas, making work about her lived experiences and feelings of nostalgia. She pulls inspiration from her past, real and dreamt. She makes paintings, drawings and sculptures, in a range of scales and mediums but usually no larger than 2m x 2m. Molly has exhibited with Hypha before, our very first shop take over in Eastbourne in March 2021 and showed work in Hypha’s 56 Conduit space in October 2022. Molly has also shown work in Hastings at The Dirty Old Gallery and A-Space Gallery, in Brighton at Coachwerks, in Eastbourne at VOLT and in Margate at Gallery 3. She studied at Hastings art Foundation in 2017 and then Camberwell College of Arts on BA Painting.
How Molly will use her free studio
She will use the space to create a body of work, continuing on and developing her painting practice. She will make works that take in her surroundings and life in Hastings as a point of inspiration. The works she will make will include painting, drawing, sculpture and printing. When this body of work has naturally come to a point of conclusion, she will present the works in an exhibition that is open to the public. Her main plan for the public facing event would be to have an exhibition at the conclusion of her time in the space, to display the works created. She is also interested in the possibility of providing workshops to the public about painting, collage and sketchbook practices.
