‘Inside Out’  is a presentation of works by a group of makers based at Blackhorse Workshop. The exhibition brings together seven artists and makers working across sculpture, installation, fabrication, design and sound. The show explores how the spaces we live in shape who we are, and how our identities are formed through the objects, materials and arrangements of home interiors.

Home interiors are an extension of the self. The spaces we live in carry our memories, our habits, and our sense of belonging. Every object, arrangement, sound, and surface reflects something about who we are, whether it be carefully chosen or accidental, it always shapes our identities in ways we don’t always notice.

This exhibition brings together a group of makers from Blackhorse Workshop. We come from different practices, craft, design, sculpture, art, but we are united in our interest in how the things we make and live with speak about us. By putting our works side by side, we’re showing how identity gets built, decorated, repaired and reimagined, just like the homes we live in.

No1 Poultry is a building loaded with its own architectural history and presence in the city. By bringing our objects into this space, we’re looking at what happens when the home and the self are placed inside a commercial landmark. The show comes from Blackhorse Workshop, a place where making is shared, tools are communal, and ideas grow through doing things together. That spirit runs through this exhibition: our identities are not fixed, but made, and remade, in dialogue with the spaces we live in and the people we live alongside.
