Shifting Choreographies
curated by Minna Pöllänen
Hypha Gallery 3 / No. 1 Poultry, London EC2R 8EN
PV: Thursday, 6th November 2025, 6-9pm
Open: 7 November – 6 December 2025
Shifting Choreographies brings together artists working across sound, moving image, sculpture, performance, writing, and photography to interrogate the politics of bodies in space. Visitors are invited to take part—by touching, moving, reading, speaking, and witnessing—as the works unfold through live and digital realms.
Approaching choreography as an expansive method, the exhibition explores how movement relates to memory, ritual, visibility, correspondence, and futurity. Works respond to the site and shift in scale, making the exhibition adaptable to either gallery setting.
Minna Pöllänen’s sculptural installation is activated through sensuous performance, while Sohaila Baluch and Anju Kasturiraj fragment gestures of diasporic memory as forms of embodied knowledge. Kasra Jalilipour reimagines queer histories through holograms and animation, and Claire Sunho Lee examines the instability of bodily memory in photography. Linn Phyllis Seeger’s moving-image sculpture lingers between propulsion and suspension, while Julia Wolf animates digital motion-capture into a choreography of its twin. Giulia Astesani’s fragments of past works question how residue can become score. Poets Jinhao Xie and Marianne Habeshaw open new sensorial registers of language as embodied movement.
Together, these works form a shifting choreography for audiences to move through, return to, and carry with them—a relational framework for reimagining how bodies move in and against the world.
