Surface Matters
PV: Thursday, 5th December, 6 – 9pm
Open: 6th December – 3rd January
Surface Matters, est.2019, is an artist-led platform for peer-to-peer dialogue for artists concerned with human-and-non-human connections, relations with place, being and making. The exhibition – ‘Conglomerates’ will feature sculptural, and film installation works by artists – Paola Bascón, Rhiannon Hunter (Surface Matters founder), Rona Lee, Hannah Morgan, Davinia-Ann Robinson, Sam Williams.
Conglomerates is an exhibition of artists working across film, sculpture, text and sound within an expanded matrix of ecology, care and multi-species liveability. The exhibition explores care formed through relations with self and other beings that provide openings into worlds that move beyond selfhood to create substrates for resistance, deep-knowing, storying, and kinning as processes of paying attention to that which is unheard. Accompanying the exhibition will be a series of artist led workshops, a website, Instagram, and a small print-run artist publication that features works and writing by the selected artists that will be available to purchase.
