“Checked out” is an exhibition taking place in a former Wilkos in Hillsborough. Through reclamation and reoccupation, the site acts as a catalyst for seventeen artists’ works: to respond and inform. Journey through the shop floor; artefacts conjure memories and foretell uncertain futures. An emptiness echoes throughout, with reverberations of late stage capitalism.
Alongside the exhibition there will be an opening night and a series of accompanying weekly events: a reading and poetry session will take place to explore a verbal approach to themes within the exhibition; a performance event; a zine & edition fair showcasing and selling artists’ works; a guided curator walkthrough for an in-depth discussion about the exhibition.

52, 97, 98 from Arundel Gate to Hillsborough (around 5 mins walk)
Access Notice:
The 1st Floor is accessible via stairs only. Apologies there is no life access due to the nature of the space.
